Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026Metis ("we", "our", or "us") operates the askmetis.co website and the Metis Chrome extension. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
What We Collect
The Metis Chrome extension reads the visible text content of the active browser tab when you click "Analyze". This text is sent to our backend server to extract a thesis and search for relevant scientific literature.
We do not collect:
- Names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information
- Browsing history or data from pages you have not explicitly chosen to analyze
- Authentication credentials or financial information
- Location data
How We Use It
Page text submitted for analysis is sent to:
- Anthropic API — to extract the page thesis and classify scientific articles
- PubMed E-utilities (NCBI) — to search for relevant scientific literature
We do not store the page text after analysis is complete. Analysis results are cached temporarily on our server to improve performance and are automatically cleared on backend updates.
Third Parties
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to third parties. Data is only shared with the APIs listed above solely to provide the fact-checking service.
